Personal Accident / Sickness & Health Insurance
The purpose of this insurance is to provide you with financial protection in the event of an accident or illness.
The policy can include lump sum benefits payable in the event of Accidental Death or Permanent Total Disablement following an accident.
It is designed essentially to give a weekly benefit in the event of accident and/or illness payable for up to 2 years. Most policies exclude the first 7 or 14 days of incapacity.
GROUP PERSONAL ACCIDENT AND ILLNESS INSURANCE
Insurance can be arranged in a company, club or association name. Cover and benefits can be tailor made to suit each set of circumstances eg. cover all employees, key staff or named persons. Cover can be extended to include overseas Business Travel including medical expenses and cancellation.
PRIVATE MEDICAL INSURANCE
The policy is designed to cover the costs of private medical treatment for curable short term illness or injury (commonly known as acute conditions).
Cover can be provided for In-patient, Day Patient or Out Patient treatment. There are a large variety of schemes available - from low cost schemes offering limited cover, to those which offer wide-ranging cover and benefit. Most schemes offer cover for in-patient and day-patient care, but not always out-patient.
Cover does not usually apply for conditions you had before taking out the insurance (commonly known as pre-existing conditions) or long term illnesses which cannot be covered (usually referred to as chronic conditions).
GROUP PRIVATE MEDICAL INSURANCE
This insurance can be arranged in a company name to cover employees, principals or directors. See the Private Medical Insurance section for how the cover works. Any premiums paid by the company for each insured person counts as a benefit for income tax persons.
Premiums are usually lower than if the insurance is arranged in the individual's name.
